Urinary Tract Infections
ok i hav this question, what exactly causes UTI?, been in a stable relationship for 2yrs nows and my main problem is recurrence of this infection
every time we have sex like for a whole week the next week i will start having a funny smell and then brownish discharge. hav seen several doctors concerning this but nothing much is done just given some antibiotics and the infection clears
i feel sometimes tired of going to the hospital time and again for the same issue, can anyone feel me?
To the married women do u experience this kind of problems and how do u go abt them?

RE: UTI
It is necessary to explain the anatomical and medical reasons why you experience frequent urinary tract infections after sex.
1)Comparatively, females are more prone to urinary tract infections (UTI) due to the anatomy of the female genitourinary tract. The female urethra is short (4cm in length) and opens very near and just anterior to the opening of the vagina. The short urethra facilitates the ascent of infective organisms from the vaginal opening into the bladder. Due to the inward and outward movements during a sexual act, a copious amount of secretions and organisms present in the vagina is made available at the vaginal opening for ascent into the bladder.
There are female-specific factors that cause some women recurrent UTI. Women with recurrent UTI
A) have more binding sites for infective organisms on the linings of the vagina and urethra.
(B) lack an enzyme in the secretions of the linings of the vagina and urethra, which normally masks these binding sites, making these binding sites more available for infective organisms.

Therefore, it is not the frequency of sex that causes recurrent UTI, but in
all women, the proximity of the short urethra to the vagina; and in
some women the abundance of binding sites for infective pathogens and the lack of an enzyme blocker.

UTI TIT BITS
HELLO

UTI are more frequent in female than male because of the position and shortness of our urethras. It is not uncommon to have frequent uti but you can avoid it. Causes of Uti in female are wiping from back to front introducing bacteria in the urethrea, certain medication, commpromised immune system, being a female more at risk, and ph of the vagina. Ensure that after sex you urinate, wipe from front to back,if you have prescribed antibiotics ensure that you complete the dose. You can also drink cranberry juice or any acidic juice have your partner checked you might need stronger antibiotics or be on suppression therapy, which means you take low doses of antibiotics everyday. Frequent UTIS can cause serious kidney damage including chronic renal failure. please follow up with doc you dont want the trouble of dialysis!!!!

There is only one source, I think your boyfriend might be having the infection and re-infecting you time and again. Ask him to be checked out. There is a big possibility that he may be giving you the infection.
